I want to tell you something.
“I want to tell you something.
At a certain point in your life,
probably after too much of it has gone by,
you will open your eyes and see yourself
for who you are,
especially for everything that made you so different
from all the normals,
and you will say to yourself;
‘But I am this person!’
and in that statement,
there will be a kind of love.”

My dear, beautiful reader. Today I found a photo of my two-year-old self and I wondered, what would I say to this precious child if I could fold time and be the person behind the camera she is staring into so earnestly. What might you say if you could whisper through time into your own sweetly curved, perfect little newborn ear? Why not speak those words to yourself right now? Maybe those are the very words you have been waiting a lifetime to hear.

You bring so much divinity into the everyday.
You prompt me to ask myself “can I love myself in the now as much as I love the child in the photo?” thank you!
Amy, I love this question! I once heard a story of a Rabbi who holds up a beautiful, smiling baby in front of his congregation as they all smile and coo over her and then he asks, “When do we stop forgiving her everything, and why?” It is the same for ourselves, I think. Why do we stop loving ourselves unconditionally? We are always deserving of our own unconditional love and forgiveness. Always.
This tugged just so at my heart.
